All Inter Terminals’ operations and facilities are managed in a manner that seeks to protect the health and safety of employees, contractors, the public and the environment, while complying with, and where appropriate, exceeding the applicable laws, regulations, industry standards and stakeholder expectations.
Our European facilities satisfy all the requirements of the Seveso Directive, in the prevention of major accidents and should such accidents happen, to limit their consequences for human health and the environment.
As an operator of Seveso sites, Inter Terminals has implemented the new Seveso III requirements. This updated Directive on the control of major accident hazards required include:
- Implementation of the Globally Harmonised System (GHS)/CLP Directive for classification of substances
- Improved provision of information to the public
- Review of emergency plans
- Update of Safety Reports
In the UK, the majority of our terminals are regulated under the COMAH 2015 Regulations as Upper Tier Sites for the safe storage of hazardous products. The regulations are overseen by Health & Safety Executive and Environment Agency.
Where required, our UK facilities are further regulated by Environmental Permitting Regulations (EPR), with compliance overseen by Local Authority (LA) Part B permits and Environment Agency (EA) Part A permits. Facilities are subject to ongoing monitoring and checks to ensure continued compliance with environmental permit regulations. Where NORM products are located staff also hold an approved Radiation Protection Supervisor’s (RPS) qualification.
